Joshua 1:7-9; Isaiah 41:10 THE JOSHUA GENERATION

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

I will not be afraid, fear shall not abide with me and when it would challenge me I will lift up The Word of God against it. I am of God's good courageous, resting and abiding in His Righteous Right Hand. Father in you I trust and shall not be ashamed for YOU ARE all I ever need. Amen

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

As I share with you the Key to walking in the Spirit today, understand beloved brother and sister I am a witness. God is taking Me (Jasmin) on this walk and revealing some very powerful truths that  sets me free in mind, body and spirit. Herein, is the reason I can only write to you as led by the Spirit of the Living God. Today, I received a very powerful Key to release to you, my family. Be courageous, don't be discourage God (the Great I AM; our DADDY) is holding YOU in HIS Righteous Victorious Right Hand.

Thought for Today
Let me be very brief, clear and concise. I don't know you but I know God. With all my issues of trusting folks, their minds, hearts and agendas, I need not really even concern myself with any of those issues. They really are non-issues. Any apprehensions, reservations and yes, even False Evidence Appearing Real is truly null and void because God's promise and His Word is my Truth. My focus isn't on my issues with my issues or my issues with anyone. My focus is fixed on God. So as long as I live I will trust HIM and never doubt Him. I doesn't matter that I can't see my way, not sure of where I am going or exactly HOW I am getting there because I am held in the Powerful, the RIGHTEOUS, the VICTORIOUS Right HAND of my Daddy. It is my Daddy that will be with me wherever I go, causing me to be not dismayed, He strengthens and helps me. Joshua's Generation serves as the witness, of what God is doing in Jasmin in this Generation, this time and among those He  aligns and set forth to fulfilling HIS plan and purpose today. Your alignment, your showing up in my experience and I in yours has a righteous and victorious outcome. What God has positioned and purposed for us to accomplish even though weapons may form they shall not prosper, But WE SHALL be prosperous wherever we go as long as we keep, observe and do HIS  Commandments. This is how and why Joshua's generation had long and Godly success.

The Prevailing Truth for me Today:

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law  my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:7-9 NIV

So do not fear, for I am with you;  do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help  you;I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NIV

John 8:12 and Matthew 5:14-16 Be the Light

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

Father teach us to know our worth. We are the Light as YOU are the Light and  because you called us to be the Light. Help us not grow dim or hide our light but allow it to shine for all. Teach us that we follow Your example as the Light of the world. You have appointed to every one of us who are called by Your Name.

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

Questions: Are you the Light of the world? Have you thought about what it means to be the light of the world?

As you grow spiritually you will note numerous changes in your physical world. There will be former attitudes and attributes that shift or change. The places you used to go, and people you used know are rapidly changing or evolving. People may begin to see the changes and say you look radiant, happy or they may avoid you because they cannot understand or pinpoint the changes in your life. Nonetheless, the shifts and changes are evident to you and them because you are the light of the world. When you show up there is going to be illumination and there is nothing that can be done about for you are the light. The key to being the light is simply to be. Jesus called us the light--rightly so. When God said, let there be light, there was light.

Thought for Today

I started this "be" the salt and the light topic because we all need to have a clear comprehension of how powerful we are in the earth and world. As we are called to be the salt of the earth (you can read the previous blog post "Matthew 5:13, Mark 9:49-50, Luke 9:25-34 "Being Salt"); Jesus also told us we are the light of the world. We know that Jesus said of himself "I am the light of the world." Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." The Bible reports Jesus was faced with opportunity to judge and condemn a woman caught in the sin of adultery just prior to him telling those present "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." The same Pharisees who brought the accusation against the adulteress challenged Jesus' witness and declared it invalid. Look at what Jesus replied to them:

John 8:14-18 (NIV)
Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.  You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.  But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”

Essentially, Jesus said 'look I know who I am even if you don't and I don't need you to validate my testimonies or witness of my being who I am.' The light is the light. The properties and source of light need no validation because it light. There is no mistaking light for something else. Right?

What is this light defined as and what has it come to mean to us naturally? According to Dictionary.com 'light' is

  1. something that makes things visible or affords illumination: All colors depend on light.
  2. Physics, (A) also called luminous energy, radiant energy, electromagnetic radiation to which the organs of  sight react, ranging in wavelength from about 400 to 700 nmand propagated at a speed of 186,282 mi/sec (299,972 km/sec), considered variously as a wave, corpuscular or quantum phenomenon. (B) a similar form of radiant energy that does not affect the retina, as ultraviolet or infrared rays.
  3. the sensation produced by stimulation of the organs of sight.
  4. an illuminating agent or source, as the sun, a lamp, or a beacon.
  5. the radiance or illumination from a particular source: the light of a candle.

Let's examine the natural properties of visible light. The properties of visible light are:

Reflection- bending back; an image, representation, counterpart. The reflection of light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation occurs when the waves encounter a surface or other boundary that does not absorb the energy of the radiation and bounces the waves away from the surface.

Refraction- is responsible for image formation by lenses and the eye. It is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where it's speed is different. The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.

Refractive indices the simplest way to define the refractive index is to say it is a dimensionless number that describes how light propagates through an optical medium (substance).

Dispersion- the refractive index of substances or materials varies with the wavelength and frequency of light; this is called dispersion. Dispersion causes prisms to divide white light into spectral colors and provides the explanation of how rainbows are formed.

We can see from examining light's natural properties that light does not simply illuminate it moves, bends, divides, propagates and forms. Bearing these natural properties in mind what then is Jesus really saying when he says, "You are the light of the world..." (Matthew 5:14 NIV) and declares "I am the Light of the world..." (John 8:12 NIV). What must we know about the spiritual properties of this light and how it is to light the world?

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Gen 1:3 (NIV)

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. (John 3: 19-21 NIV)

The Amplified Bible says even clearer:

The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil. For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved. But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are--wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God's help, in dependence upon Him]. (John 3:19-21 Amp Bible)

So when we revisit John chapter 8 and re-read the events John 3 becomes the testimony for people who love darkness and hate the light as the accusers shrink from having their sins exposed. We also see  a few properties of spiritual light being revealed. This spiritual light is exposing, revealing, and reproving, but it also repels, disperses and causes some hide or reject it. When the Light that Jesus speaks of comes on the scene things happen. The first thing that is noticeable is the interaction between the Light and that which being illuminated; responds with attraction or repulsion; either love or hate. Exposure and reproving will occur, the subject will either come into the light and become fully exposed and reproved or he/she will shrink and retreat from being exposed or revealed. Another key element to note when the Light shows up is the presence of God Almighty himself. As the light of the world shows up and you are the light understand what happens. You must know there is nothing you can do to hid the light that radiates from you, for you are created in God's likeness and image. You are the light of the world.

Revelation 1:1-8 "HE WENT WILLINGLY"

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

Father You are Alpha and Omega beside you there is no other. While we reject you; Your only Son came and bore our transgressions, iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon and by His stripes we are heal. Jesus is the Resurrection. Thank you for revealing HE WENT WILLINGLY while we sought to live outside obedience, looked to other gods and would reject His grace at every turn, He went willingly to  redeem us from sin by becoming sin himself. O what love is this?

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

Question: Will you go willingly?

Can you understand the power of will? This most powerful key for walking in the spirit is not to be taken lightly. There something so powerful in submitting to the plan, the Will of God. Understand you have free will to do, to be and exercise authority and live in dominion. Will is your mental faculty to deliberately choose or decide on a course of action. We exercise will with diligence, purposefulness and determination. Our will is our self; self control or self discipline (self-governing). It is your desire, purpose and determination as it relates to the authority God gave you, free discretion, inclination or pleasure. Humans/mankind has Free Will. Will you willingly submit even to death?

Thought for Today

Yesterday, I cried as the Father spoke these three words to me "He went willingly." The gentle caress of those words quieted my troubled mind. As I thought on many things that perplexed me, obstacles in my way and conflicts that appeared; I could do nothing but shed many tears at those words "He went willingly." Those three simple words arrested me--humbled me. Because, I could see Jesus going willingly into service, taken on a job that He did not have to do; being rejected, despised and scorned. I sawJesus stepping in my mess, my sin, my pain, my suffering to get me out. Look, you know you and where you are...how you live. Jesus came to willingly into your mess and became a substitute to set you free. The reality is the world didn't reject Him, man did!  It is very simple your ways are not God's ways and your thoughts are not God thoughts. We all live in a perpetual state of let me do me. We have agendas, plans and ideologies that are as far removed from God as the east is from the west or as is the earth from the heavens. We want to serve if we can find a niche, a market an audience if you will but God forbid people to don't receive you and that you sell. Want friendships, to be acknowledged, and to be seen. But, when Jesus said, "I will go," He knew, he would be bruised, wound, and the chastening of our sins would be on Him. He knew he would get spat on, lie on, talked about and ultimately slain.  He knew he'd be rejected by the very folks He came for. But, He went willingly. So as I pondered the road ahead for me on this journey called life and as I attempted to put all the answers in perspective I heard, "He went willingly."  At that moment I worshiped the Father and the Son because suddenly all my worrying seemed so small. I recognized, I have been redeemed, reconciled and renewed. I am not alone in this journey. It is my battle any longer. All the hurt, pain; all the worry and perplexities are not mine to bear. It is done, finished because Jesus went willingly. The day I hardened not my heart, and heard the knock, I opened the door and received the invite to sup with HIM. I am not the same nor will I ever be. I decided to submit and obey; to follow wherever He leads. My life is not my own because I decided to go willingly; exchanging my will for the Will of the Father. Let me be clear, I know I have been called to service and serving in places where it is not pleasant. But, I am go willingly.

Today's Scripture Reading Revelation 1:1-8 NIV
The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,  who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.  Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. John,To the seven churches in the province of Asia:Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,  and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”So shall it be! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Matthew 5:13, Mark 9:49-50, Luke 9:25-34 "Being Salt"

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

Father teach us to know our worth. We are the salt because you called us to be the salt. Help us not lose our saltiness for it is our acceptable service to You and the discipleship You have appointed to every one of us who are called by Your Name.

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

Questions: Are you salted? Have you prepared to present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God?

One of the greatest things about walking in the spirit is the level of revelation that is availed. Revelation of who you are and what you are created to do. The things of spirit cannot be handled or understood unless you will put the flesh on the altar daily. You cannot bring the mere mind to the table of God and expect to sup with Him. We are going have to learn how to present our body as living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God this our true and proper worship. (Romans 12:1 NIV) The key to walking in the spirit is to avail oneself to the covenant of salt (Christ), be holy (separated for the Master's use) and please God (read Proverbs 16). Be salted.

Thought for Today

Here in this blog, Jasmin's Praying and Walking in the Spirit, I don't want to be just blogging, writing and speaking willy nilly. If God's not speaking than I really have nothing to say here. I have others blogs where I express myself on a variety of intellectual levels. The previous blog post I spoke regarding Matthew 5:13-16 as Jesus told us we are the salt and the light. But, do we know why he said it and what it means? Today's walking in the spirit key is "Be Salted." Let me explain how to be salted and why we who follow Christ need to do this.

I tell you salt is needed and it is valuable. There are thirty-odd references to salt in the English translation of the Bible. Those references are found in the Books of the Law (Genesis, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), the Books of Judges, Joshua, and Ezra, the Books of Wisdom (Psalm, Prayer of Manasseh, Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Wisdom of Solomon, and Wisdom of Sirach, the Books of Prophet (Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel) and the New Testament Matthew, Mark, Luke, Colossian and James.

There are 14,000 uses for salt known to man. These are a few of the basic characteristics of salt:
  • needed mineral,
  • essential element of diet (human, animal and plants),
  • it is the most effective and widely used (food) preservative [even used in Egyptian mummy preserving],
  • it used industrially, and medicinally, it is a taste enhancer,
  • it is used as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge in many cultures,
  • salt was used as a currency in many cultures (Ezra 4:14),
  • salt was used in sacrifices (Leviticus 2:13)
  • Salt spiritually represents an unbreakable bond between us and God.
Though salt has natural properties it also has spiritual properties that are important to the believer and non believer.

For the believer, we are called the salt (the seasoning, preserver, and cure) of the earth (the realm we are to subdue and have dominion). As we offer our bodies a living sacrifice the offering must be salted.Christ is covenant of salt [2 Chronicles 13:5] (Kingdom established forever), He is an everlasting covenant, and bond that cannot be broken. If we. who are called by His name, have not been crucified, and raised with Him we are speaking lies. If we who are called by His name do not pick up our cross and follow Him we are not His disciples. Because we have been made heirs we are part of the covenant of salt that God gave David. So were are the salt by virtue of salvation.

Leviticus 2:13 reads: "And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.

2 Chronicles 13:5 reads: "Don’t you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?"

Salt cannot be ingest alone. You cannot eat salt without measure. If you use too little, it has no effect. Likewise if you use too much it is useless. As we are the salt of the earth it is important to know how much we need to use. It is also vitally important we know where to use it. Salt is not meant for everything. In some instances salt brings about desolation and barrenness.

Ezekiel 47:3-12 reads:
"As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[ and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.  He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”

"Then he led me back to the bank of the river.  When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.  He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.  Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.  Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.  But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.  Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

There was point in water Ezekiel could not go. As matter of fact Ezekiel says, "no one could cross." The salt according to scripture went to specific part and then it salty water became fresh water. Note: the fresh (living) produced more life and healing.  Christ, the covenant salt, became fresh (living) water for us.

John 4:7-15 NIV reads

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans). Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?  Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

It was not by happenstance that Jesus demonstrated how salt became living water in Samaria (among a people Jews did not associate). It is no coincidence that her impurities are washed out and she stands convicted by the Word of Truth. Her deliverance, the clarity of spirit and worship begin to show up as she receive the Living Water. What follows after is produce (life and healing). Life produce life.

When the Samaritan Woman, evangelizes, she is salt. She became the salt of the earth. She brings the cure, and  the preservative. The woman's life was evident as was her transformation. The entire region believed and followed her to Jesus because of her testimony. But, at point they said, they believe because they experience the living water for themselves.

John 4:39-42 NIV reads:

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”  So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

This is discipleship. It is not enough that we are saved, go to church and hear the Word. We are called to be the salt. We must bring the cure, be the preservative and in order to do that we have to become a living sacrifice that has been salted by the Christ, the covenant of salt and we must drink from the well that does not run dry.

My final thought regarding the salt is our speech must be seasoned. Colossians 4:6 NIV reads, "Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."  The key word is everyone. We need to know how to answer EVERYONE.

Grace & Peace.

Matthew 5:13-16 Are You the Salt and the Light?

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

Father, help me stay in my lane. You called me to be the salt and set me apart as a light. Don't let me lose my saltiness or allow my light go dim. Led me to the places YOU have prepared for me to enter, set my feet on that path, fix my eyes and ears to see and hear as I submit my entire body as a living sacrifice for Your use.

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

Questions: Who have you salted or brought light to today? Are you the salt and the light?

After Jesus taught the beatitudes to the multitudes He immediately preached to them about squandering their blessings. Apparently the mass mentality of the day was much like the masses today in that we are unaware of the power we have in being the salt and light. The key for today is simple, become aware you are the salt and the light. Act like it. (Note: if you are the salt and the light it goes without saying. It simply apparent.)

Thought for Today

As I studied this Word, I experienced an ah ha moment. Literally, my brain went ding-ding!!! Salt and light have a specific purpose to be salt and light. If you were to get a box of Morton Salt and season your food, then taste that same food only to discover it had no flavor--you would throw box away. For salt without favor is useless. Likewise, you without God's purpose would be useless. We all have a God purpose. I do mean all. Good, bad, or indifferent there is a God purpose for your life.  It is up to you to be aware of what it is.  Similarly, light that doesn't shed light is useless. Imagine flipping the on switch for a lamp that did not illuminate the room. How quickly would get another bulb that worked? Why then do we stay in lifestyles that don't work and add nothing to God's purpose? Why, do we toil when the Father created us to tend? We missed the purpose of being so blessed just like the multitudes Jesus strategically positioned in that day to see how blessed they were   You must understand God's uses your situations to align you His plan and purpose. However, if you remain unaware it is because you have not bothered to study to show yourself a workman that can rightly divide the Truth, so you continue without.

For demonstration sake let's look at the message in Beatitude Sermon (Matthew 5:2-12 NIV), I boldfaced text to emphasize. If, you truly believed the Word of God, you would never doubt you have a purpose, reason for being and something to do. That is to be the salt and the light to bless others. That's not complicated.

The Beatitudes
    He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
   for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
   for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
   for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

When circumstances and troubles arise they position for blessings. You must be aware of  the power and strength in knowing you obtain the rewards: the kingdom of heaven, called the children of God, great reward, mercy, comfort, and filling etc. So when, they who are struggling without God and  have not experienced the blessings of God get exposed to your saltiness and the light radiating from you, they come, seek, knock and ask and they obtain.
I Dare You to be the salt and the light.

Today's Scripture Reading (Matthew 5: 13-16 NIV)

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Luke 18:43 & Luke 19:3 Lord, Help Me I Cannot See

Prayer for Today
Father, I worship you and give YOUR Name the praise. For you alone are worthy of all the praise. I invite you to step in this place and take control. I submit to Your will, Your Word and Way. Holy Spirit direct my steps and guide me on my way. What is it that I can do for You, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom today.

Father, my prayer today is that we may see. Lord, Help Us to See! Lord, Help Us to Look and See! Oh, that we may see as you see and look as you look. Deliver us for the thing(s) that hinders our ability to see. Remove the scales from our eyes. Guide us with Your eyes; give Father that prophetic eye. Fix our gaze toward heaven, allow us to speak in the world and declare Your Word. Oh, that we may live and be holy even as you are holy.

Today's Key to Walking in the Spirit

Question:
Are you aware your life is being watched? What are others seeing and looking when they watch you?

Our ability to see (spiritually and naturally discern) is a powerful key to praying and walking in the spirit. We need to possess seeing eyes that not only see but look. Seeing is visually discerning. However, looking is the act of turning one's gaze towards or calling one's attention toward someone or something. Our ability to visually discern (recognize) does not necessarily mean we possess the ability to look (call attention to) or vice versa. Isaiah 6:9-10 and Mark 4:12 tells why our ability to see and hear are vital parts of our spiritual walk. Mark 4:12 says, "they may be ever seeing but never perceiving," the two do not automatically co-exist. Though the do not automatically co-exist they can be developed and fine tuned. It is vital to develop sight so we can turn and be forgiven.

Thought for Today

Now, let's look at two men who visually impairments that disabled them. Blind Begging Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) and Zacchaeus, the rich Chief Tax Collector/sinner. I want you see (recognize) that I have deliberately labeled and described Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus. I am going call your attention to their physical location-Jericho. Jericho is the land of promise, it is the first city captured and destroyed by the Israelites and Joshua (Joshua 6). It is this land in which God miraculously gives His chosen people (recall how the walls of this fortified city crumbled with a shout.)  They utterly destroyed Jericho, all the inhabitants saved Rahab, the harlot (ancestor of Jesus) and her family. Joshua cursed anyone who would venture to rebuild it. However, Jericho appears to have significant prominence in the Bible as a place of restoration, spiritual miracles, and activity for Jesus.

Let me call your attention to a fact, both Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus attained some notoriety in the town of Jericho. Both were known to the people. Both had physical impairments that prevented them from seeing Jesus. Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus had both heard Jesus was passing their way. Both had to take some action to turn towards Jesus. Bartimaeus lacked the ability to see, so he yelled and screamed.  Zacchaeus, a very short man, climbed up a tree to see Jesus without obstruction. These men discerned they needed to see. Both position himself strategically to achieve their objective--seeing. Both Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus are one among a throng of people yet Jesus is completely of aware of their presence. These men's pressing need to see caused Jesus' to look at their situation and grant their request. Both men received total restoration. Their restoration is a turning point or tipping point for the masses. What Jesus does for them turned the entire crowd towards restoration and relationship with God.

Finally, let's look and see the crowd. Notice the crowd is also aware and awaiting Jesus. However, their awareness and anticipation are not the things that bring restoration or relationship with God to them. As you read the text. you will see there are those in the crowd that allow their attention to be called away. Some even take the time to chastise Bartimaeus assisting that he shut. Others in the crowd whispered about the sins of Zacchaeus. The vast majority never knew that what Jesus would do for Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus would bring deliverance to them. Lord, help us to look and see.

Today's Scripture Reading (Luke 18:43 NIV)

Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.
